AlphaPoint is a blockchain company that resells its crypto exchange platform as one of its services. The platform their customers used to manage their exchange was difficult to use and unintuitive as it was basically a UI to display API fields. What it needed was a total redesign from a user centric point of view that could be customized based on permissions and personal options.
The Approach
I wrote an in depth user interview guide and facilitated remote user interviews with several of AlphaPoint’s direct customers. I was able to gain insight on how they used the current platform day to day, where exactly it fell short of their needs, and what it actually did well.
Concurrently, I analyzed the current platform screen by screen, section by section, and produced a critical reference document in an Entity Relationship Diagram. This showed many duplications and redundancies. Using this along with the findings from the user interviews, we could map out a direction for what could be corrected in a new design.
The Final Product
What I helped their design team produce was a clean, simple interface that keeps users on task and focused. The previous design would inexplicably reorient the user to different sections without clear reason. My solution keeps most common functions inline and in view, with secondary and tertiary functions within quick interactive reach.
The Impact
Customer feedback is pending deployment, however AlphaPoint’s internal feedback was positive and came will full support.
