Customer and User experience starts at home, meaning your home base of operations. It also extends into business areas you might not expect. I don’t just design interfaces.
More than web and mobile applications. Design is all encompassing. If your space is in physical products or engineering, I can be of tantamount assistance in making your tangibles feel right.
User experience will mean different things to different organizations, with even more distinctions within those organizations. My approach is to find the foundation that suits your goals overall, then tailor each experience from one user-centered philosophy.
Finally a design consultant who doesn’t have his head in the clouds. While I share the passion for empathy and usability, I don’t apply my experience in such a dogmatic way to sacrifice business needs.
I design for users, on the behalf of businesses. What do businesses care about? Making money, saving money, and saving time.
I design to solve problems by making my approach to understand your business, your priorities, your challenges, and weave the solution into an experience that will delight and empower the people who use your products.
I don’t develop and trademark methods of approach and research, give them catchy names, then try to fit you into them or pick one I think works best for you. The strategic plan I customize for your organization is built from the ground up. Of course there is a lot of experience to build from.
The solution is as unique as everything that makes your business what it is.
Good design is problem solving, and I’ve been doing it over nine years in several disparate industries. I’ve made them work by keeping to a solid foundational approach.
Design of internal business tools are a specialty, and not limited to home office employees. Workflow enhancement applications are just the start. I build tools that enable your sales teams to sell more confidently, or your field engineers to monitor and record more efficiently. Tech is more mobile now than ever, and I will help you embrace and optimize with it.
True masterful work in user experience spans a variety of disciplines. I will guide you on building the team of designers and developers to make ideas tangible, and how they’ll most effectively insert into your organization’s infrastructure.
Smart contracts, transactions statuses, Ethereum, gas, connecting all these through web3.js or some other frontend…
With so many technical touchpoints and dependencies, it’s extremely critical to have a user centered designer working with you on your decentralized applications. There is so much complexity and the rate of evolution is so fast, it is absolutely necessary to have a designer who can bring it all together into an experience that people can use. The public at large needs to know less about the complexity of blockchain technology, and more about what it specifically means to them that they can relate to.
Grow your team into UX Superstars. One great realization is that your organization likely already has existing talent and notable resources to be evangelists for how to best service its users and customers, and further aid in business goals. My workshops enlighten those resources and teach them the values and fundamentals they’ll need to direct those talents towards the people you serve.
The following words are from clients and colleagues who’ve given references to support my work.
We worked with Corey to completely redesign the UI for our entire web application. Corey was fantastic to work with and always responded quickly to our needs. His design was spot on and he gave our app the polished look and feel that we desperately needed. He not only provided design but was also able to help us with the product’s user experience and customer interface.
We highly recommend using Corey!
Founder / W9 Manager
When Corey came into Wells Fargo, he was immediately thrown into multiple high-profile regulatory projects. He was able to learn the regulations, determine gaps in existing experiences, and deliver designs, all while on boarding to the new role/company. Corey was picked to lead an experimental agile methodologies project for Wells Fargo’s “Speed to Market” pilot program. No one knew what to expect, but Corey went in with confidence. He managed through all the surprises and was successful in learning what was required, and delivering what was needed. Corey’s calm demeanor and speed at assimilating new information make him a welcome addition to any team.
Manager, User Experience Team / Wells Fargo
I’ve worked with Corey on 3 incredibly challenging projects: Two RESPA-TILA, and ABL, a Speed to Market project for Accelerated Business Loans. All three required considerable review by legal and compliance, as well as corporate identity. Corey was an excellent subject matter expert and as lead he was a diplomatic manager who proactively managed the other creatives on the team and client expectations. He’s a great partner to work with an easy going demeanor that helped diffuse the tensions that arise over differences in creative vision, whether it was through compromise or having to manage to the original brief. His work is exemplary.
Senior Producer, Customer Experience / Wells Fargo
I have had the pleasure of working with Corey Nelson over the last year and a half across several projects. During that time Corey demonstrated not only a commitment to timelines and quality, but also a direct and productive method of communication.
One trait that stood out demonstratively was his drive to thoroughly understand the needs and has a great way of getting to, and documenting, the details. This resulted in deliveries that did not require rework. Some designers tend to move back and wait for direction, whereas Corey participated as an active project team member whose input most definitely contributed to a faster time to completion.
Corey is articulate, capable, and dedicated as well as a first rate designer. His thoughtfulness and calmness at times of pressure are just two more of the traits that make Corey a great partner and I certainly gain a great sense of confidence when I know he is assigned to our projects.
VP, eBusiness – eLending Program / Wells Fargo Home Mortgage
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Corey on the first Digital Speed to Market Pilot project. As a project manager you encounter various resources, and in all honesty Corey has been one of the top performers. This is quite the compliment being I have twelve years of project management experience. His attention to detail, dedication to doing the right thing, leadership qualities and work ethic make him a valuable resource to say the least.
